Florence Nightingale Levy papers, 1899-1946 (bulk 1908-1926).

Papers, 1899-1946 (bulk 1908-1926). They contain correspondence related to Levy's activities as editor of the American Art Annual, as general manager of the Art Alliance of America, and as director of the Baltimore Museum of Art. She was one of the first two women elected to membership of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and her membership certificate is in the collection. There are also personal letters from James P. Haney, director of art education in New York high schools; these are mostly written from Europe, and include sketches and drawings. The collection also contains photographs of Haney, and obituaries, memorials and letters about him. Other material in the collection relates to Levy's grandparents, Arthur Lumley Levy and Esther Levy, and her parents, Joseph Arthur Levy and Pauline Goodheim Levy. The family papers include letters from Arthur Lumley Levy, conveyances for land in Georgia, 1794-1837, passports, naturalization and marriage certificates, and other miscellaneous documents. There is also an autograph album, 1879-1885, given to Levy by her mother.
